Endodontics

More commonly referred to as a “Root Canal,” endodontic treatment treats teeth that have become infected. There are many reasons a tooth may become infected. The most common reason for an infection is decay that has penetrated deep enough into the tooth that bacteria causes the nerve of the tooth to die.

What happens after a root canal is successfully completed?

  • a filling (known as a ‘core’) is used to replace the absent tooth structure

  • a crown is prescribed to restore function to the tooth
